Introducing Piper! Piper is almost a year old. She is a Harrier, which is a type of hound dog. She weighs less than 35 pounds and is fully grown. She is house trained and crate trained. Piper is looking for a home that will understand her needs. Her Foster Parent is a Dog Trainer and knows her well. She enjoys the company of other dogs and is always the first one to greet a new dog in puppy socialization class. Pipers temperament is very tolerant and cheerful and she does well with children. She loves going for car rides and running errands. Her favorite store is Lowes Home Improvement. She loves to meet new people. She would happiest if she was in a home with multiple dogs. She requires a minimal amount of grooming. Regular brushing to remove loose and dead hair is all that is needed. Piper is very intelligent and possesses an inquisitive nature. She has learned her obedience commands easily. She knows how to sit, walks great on a leash and is whistle trained to come when called. She is an adept Scent Hound with a keen sense of smell. She has begun to do Noseworks. This is a sport that uses a dogs natural ability to search for a particular scent. When we are working in Noseworks, Piper is very intense and focused. Her training must be done with fairness, firmness, and consistency. Piper is very athletic and has exceptional stamina. She will need an active family or single person who is a true athlete that will physically run with her. She would do well to be enrolled in agility and/or some other scent or lure coursing to keep her mind and body busy. She would also benefit from regular daycare where she can expend some of her energy. Having another dog in the home will entertain her somewhat, but like most hound breeds, she really needs to run and work her nose. If you are for looking an active, high energy partner that can fit your life style Piper is your perfect match. Pipers adoption fee will include training with Ahead of the Pack Dog Training. If you are interested in meeting Piper, please fill out an application on the Family Addition Dog Rescue website. www.familyadditiondogrescue.org Adoption fee for Piper is $200
